I’m starting a new occasional series of photo posts called Digital Developments. These are photos that I took with my Nikon D7100 using the camera’s monochrome JPG settings. Sometimes I want to shoot in black and white, but I don’t want to use a roll of film due to film’s ever increasing prices. Other times, I just don’t have the time to develop, scan, and edit the negatives (seems to have something to do with having two kids under the age of 5 and working full-time). I plan to continue shooting black and white film whenever a good opportunity comes along, and particularly when visiting new or interesting places.
Near the end of April, Rachel and I took the girls for a walk out to Pott’s Point in Harpswell. It was low tide, so there was a lot of gravel beach and rocks exposed. Eliza had fun throwing big rocks into the water, and Lindsey liked being out in the warm sunshine. I set my camera to shoot black and white JPGs with a simulated red filter. I liked the contrasty results.
