I have several older cameras that Brittany found in the attic at the house on Cape Cod. They have been on display on a shelf in the dining room for awhile, but I have also been eager to try taking photos with at least one of them. I decided to try out a very nice Kodak Duaflex III, from the 1950’s. The camera uses 620 film which has been discontinued, however, a roll of 120 film can be modified to fit in the camera by trimming around the edges of the film spool. I took the Duaflex with me when Rachel and I went on several walks around Yarmouth, Freeport, and out on Littlejohn Island. The camera is simple to use, but the waist level viewfinder, which shows the image reversed, takes some getting used to. I developed the film at home as usual, and then “scanned” it using my DSLR with my phone as a back light. I was pleased with how these photos came out overall, and I look forward to trying out some of the other 620 cameras that are on the shelves.
