We went for a nice bike ride on the Kennebec River Rail Trail from Gardiner to Hallowell and back. The trail starts from the Hannaford parking lot in Gardiner, and then follows the train tracks along the shoreline of the Kennebec River to Hallowell, where it meets up with Route 201. Our ride was about 4 miles each way. There were some nice scenic views of the river and some quiet woods sections along the way. I really liked the old railroad crossing signs at one of the road crossings, and some of the old signals that are still located along the tracks.
